PDF Cleanup – Find Unused and Duplicate PDFs in WordPress
Media
Every PDF: where it is used, which are copies, which nobody needs.
Lists every PDF with the places it is used, finds exact duplicates and files with no references, and cleans them up with a 30-day restore.
Free
- Where each PDF is used: posts, pages, drafts, reusable blocks, templates, menus, widgets, custom fields and page builder data
- PDFs with no references, and exact duplicates with the space one copy would free
- File names and titles that deserve a look
- A cleanup list with the safe items ticked; removed files can be restored for 30 days
Free in full: Clearyvo Pro adds nothing to this checker.
Good to Know
- Theme and plugin files, links from other websites and links built by code are not checked, so "no references found" is not proof that a file is unused.
Where to Get It
Available two ways: as the separate plugin PDF Cleanup, or as a module of the Site Toolkit plugin. They share settings and results.
WordPress 6.2, PHP 7.4. English interface.
How to Find Unused PDF Files in WordPress
- Install the free Clearyvo PDF Cleanup plugin (WordPress.org or the Download page), or Site Toolkit and switch on PDF Cleanup under Site Toolkit → Modules.
- Open PDF Cleanup in the WordPress admin (under Site Toolkit when you use more than one checker) and run the check. It works in short steps, so it finishes on shared hosting and large sites too.
- Read the report. Nothing on the site changes until you tick an item and confirm.
