Finds broken links, redirects and missing images on every page as visitors get them, and fixes links where they are written.

== Description ==

Broken Links opens every published page in your browser, like a visitor, and checks every link and image on it. Because it reads the finished pages, it also finds links in menus, headers, footers, widgets, shortcodes and page builders, not only in the post content.

* **Broken**: 404, 410 and other client errors, missing images, domains that do not exist.
* **Redirects**: links that work but go through a redirect; "Link to the final address" writes the final address into the page.
* **Could not check**: the other site refused automatic checks (401, 403), asked to wait (429), had a server error or did not answer in time. These are often fine in a browser, so they are not called broken.
* Each address is checked once, however many pages use it. Links on your site are checked by your browser; links to other sites by your server, ten at a time in parallel, with a time limit, so the scan never runs into server timeouts.
* Fix in place: change the address or remove the link and keep its text, in the block editor, the classic editor, Elementor data and custom menu links. Every changed page keeps a revision. The new address is checked at once.
* "Mark as fine" keeps a false alarm out of the lists, also after new scans.

Part of the Clearyvo plugin family: focused plugins that each check one part of your site and share one "Site Toolkit" menu with a Site health score. The Site Toolkit plugin has every checker in one plugin, switched on one by one; when it is installed, this plugin's settings and results are shared with it. More at wp-sitechecker.com.

== External services ==

To check links to other sites, your server sends a HEAD request (and, if needed, a short GET request) to each linked address when you run a scan. Only the linked address is requested; no data about your site or visitors is sent. Addresses that point into a private network are not requested.

== Free and Pro ==
Everything in this plugin is free. Clearyvo Pro is one add-on for the Pro features of the whole family (image optimisation, AI ALT texts, alerts by email, white-label reports); this checker has none of its own.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= What is the /wp-json/clearyvo/v1/app/ address? =
A read-only REST route for the Clearyvo Site Inspector Mac app. It shows the Site health score of the Clearyvo plugins to a signed-in administrator (for example with a WordPress Application Password) and changes nothing. It sends nothing anywhere: the app asks, the site answers.

= 0.7.2 =
* The other checkers in the shared menu have their new names (SSL Checker, Security Checker, Indexing Checker and the rest).

= 0.7.1 =
